Moose Jaw will be well represented at Hoopla in Saskatoon this week.

The Peacock Toilers, Central Cyclones and B.C.A. Cougars all punched their tickets to the high school basketball provincial championship after winning their respective regional titles this weekend.

Peacock secured their spot at Hoopla with a 71-40 win on their home court over the Central Cyclones in the 4A Girls regional final on Saturday.

"It's pretty cool, we've went to Hoopla the past three years, and some of the girls for four years, it's going to be a great experience and we can do really well in it too," said Peacock senior Piper Ingalls.

Ingalls made the play of the game when she nailed a three-quarter court buzzer beater at the end of the third quarter to give Peacock a 53-29 lead.

"There was two seconds left so I just whipped and it happened to go in," said Ingalls after the game. "I thought it hit the net and it just fell, I didn't know it went in."

Ingalls led Peacock with 23 points in the win, while Emily Mackenzie scored 11 points and fellow senior Abby Busch finished with 10 points.

The Toilers jumped out to an early lead on the Cyclones and kept their foot on the gas for the rest of the game, leading 19-9 at the end of the first quarter and 40-20 at halftime.

Ingalls said they will be leaning on their experience this week as they prepare to go for a provincial title.

"We know what's coming, we're playing Melfort and going in, we know it's going to be a tough game but we can pull through," said Ingalls.

"I've got one silver and one bronze, so if I could get a gold, that would be incredible."

In other 4A Girls action, the Vanier Spirits lost out in the regional semi-final, falling 67-52 to Regina Sheldon on Friday.

The Cyclones are heading back to Hoopla in the 4A Boys classification after rolling through the competition at regionals this weekend.

Central won 127-33 over La Loche on Friday in the semifinals and then dominated their way to a 120-51 win over Saskatoon Bedford Road in the regional final on Saturday.

"We mostly expected it but we knew we had to work hard, respect the teams that we played and get momentum going into next weekend, that was our big goal," said Central senior Jaxson Brownell.

"We started off a little bit slow [in both games] but as the games went on, we started to pick it up, play better defence and everything is coming together real good."

Kyle Boughen posted 23 points in the win for the Cyclones, while Hardil Khubber picked up 22 points, Brownell had 11 points and Ethan Johnson finished with 10.

The Cyclones have lost in the provincial final each of the past two years and after another dominating season this year, they will be looking to get over that hump in the Bridge City.

Brownell said they're confident heading in, "It feels good to be heading back, three years in a row and hopefully this year will be the time that we take it home and bring a banner back to Central," he said.

"After four years of being here and two years losing, it's unfinished business for sure."

Heading into provincials, Brownell said that it all starts on the defensive side of the ball for the Cyclones.

"We need to play good defence, play hard, play with determination and grit, and just work hard every play because we've only got two games left so we can't take any possessions off and just make every second count on the court," said Brownell.

The Vanier Vikings lost in the regional final in Weyburn, falling to the host Eagles 81-77, while the Peacock Toilers also just missed on advancing to provincials with an 87-50 loss to Notre Dame in Wilcox on Saturday.

The Cougars had picked up a 79-33 win over Esterhazy on Friday in the semi-final.

In other 3A Girls regional final action, the Assiniboia Rockets dropped a 68-38 game to Melville on Saturday.
