The Central Cyclones will get a chance to complete their incredible season with a provincial title on Saturday.

The Cyclones won an all-Moose Jaw battle in the 4A boys semifinal on Friday night at Hoopla 2018 in Prince Albert, beating the Peacock Toilers, 81-72, to advance.

Ethan Johnson paced the Cyclones’ attack with 23 points in the win, while Spencer Adams had 14 points in the loss for Peacock.

Central will take on the Weyburn Eagles in the provincial final on Saturday, 5 p.m.

Weyburn advanced after holding on for an 85-80 win over the Vanier Vikings. Vanier trailed by 19 points at halftime, but got the game within three points in the fourth quarter before eventually falling by five points. 

Ronald Nyekowat finished with a game-high 40 points in the loss for Vanier.

The Vikings will meet up with the Toilers in the bronze medal game at 11 a.m. Saturday.

For the first time in five years, the Peacock Toilers won’t be playing in the 4A girls provincial championship game.

The Toilers lost 65-61 to the Estevan Elecs in the provincial semifinal on Friday afternoon.

The game was tight throughout with the teams sitting tied 28-28 at halftime.

Katherine McDougall had 13 points in the loss for Peacock.

The Toilers will play the Central Cyclones in the bronze medal game on Saturday after Central lost 63-45 to the Melfort Comets in the other semifinal.

Alexa Watterson scored 15 points in the loss for Central.

The bronze medal game tips off at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Friday was a good day for the Caronport Cougars basketball program as both their boys and girls teams advanced into their respective provincial finals at Hoopla.

The Cougar girls won 57-46 over the Lumsden Angels in the 3A girls provincial semifinal on Friday afternoon.

Haley Hiebert had a game-high 12 points in the win for Caronport.

They will face off with Regina Christian in the provincial final after they won 70-46 over Dalmeny on Friday. The provincial final tips off on Saturday night at 7 p.m.

In the 2A boys bracket, the Cougars scored a 78-57 win over Saskatoon Christian to advance into the provincial final.

Jude Shepherd-Hills led the charge for Caronport with 22 points in the win.

The Cougars will go against St. Brieux, who beat Osler VCA 90-61 in the other semifinal. Their provincial final match-up will go at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
