The Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks came away with a split of the opening two games in the SHA provincial final series against the Midwest Red Wings.

The road team actually won each game to kick-off the best-of-three series with the Red Wings winning 6-3 on Saturday afternoon here in Moose Jaw, but the Mavericks responded with a 5-4 overtime win in game two on Sunday in Turtleford.

The series is pitting the South Saskatchewan League champion Mavericks against the North Saskatchewan League champion Red Wings.

They will meet for the deciding game three on Friday night at 7 p.m. at the Red Knight Arena.

The Moose Jaw Peewee A Warriors hit the ice for a pair of games over the weekend.

They lost 6-5 to the Saskatoon Bobcat Jets on Saturday at the Red Knight Arena in the opening game of their two-game total point Peewee AA Tier II provincial final series. 

Marc Belanger and Nolan Kearns had a goal and two points each in the loss for Moose Jaw, while Aiden MacDonald, Layne Gadd and Mac Simpson also found the back of the net.

Those two sides will now meet on Tuesday in the second game of the final in Saskatoon.

The Warriors were back on the ice on Sunday to battle the Regina Blues in the Hockey Regina League playoffs. Moose Jaw was able to skate to a 5-3 win at the Doug Wickenheiser Arena to stay undefeated in the double knockout playoffs.

Cole King had two goals and three points in the win for the Warriors, while Gadd also scored twice and Belanger picked up the other marker for Moose Jaw.

The Warriors now need just one more win on Wednesday to capture the league championship.

The Moose Jaw Sabres dropped a 5-2 game to the Saskatoon Bobcat Flames in the Bridge City on Sunday to open the SHA Peewee A Tier III provincial final series.

Jaxyn Rayner and Austin Kretsch scored in the loss for Moose Jaw, who will now need to win the second game of the series by three or more goals to have a shot at the provincial title.

The second game of the two-game total series will go on Thursday night at the Kinsmen Arena here in Moose Jaw. Puck drops at 7:15 p.m.
