Moose Jaw hockey fans will have plenty to cheer about during the 2019 NHL Draft in June if the Central Scouting Midterm Rankings are any indication.

Moose Jaw product Reece Newkirk of the Portland Winterhawks was ranked 66th among North American skaters by the NHL Central Scouting Service on Monday.

Newkirk has 18 goals and 45 points in 45 games for Portland this season.

Moose Jaw Warriors forward Brayden Tracey was also able to crack the list, coming in just seven spots behind Newkirk at 73rd overall in the midterm rankings.

Tracey currently leads all WHL rookies with 44 points in 44 games this season. He’s second among rookies with 17 goals.

There were 48 WHL listed on the NHL Central Scouting Midterm Rankings, led by Saskatoon Blades forward Kirby Dach, who came in second behind American Jack Hughes. Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Dylan Cozens was third and Vancouver Giants defenceman Bowen Byram was fourth.
