Warriors captain Sam Fioretti will be looking to add to his 13 goals and 36 points this season on the trip.

Their opinions might different on which movies to watch on the bus.

“Zoolander,” said Sam Fioretti, captain of the Moose Jaw Warriors.

“Something serious, none of that Billy Madison or anything like that, like a World War Z type movie,” states Miles Warkentine, a second-year forward for the tribe.

But there's no difference of opinion when it comes to the objective and plan of attack for the ten-day, six-game road trip that that Warriors are embarking on.

The team knows that they're in tough going against the US Division, especially with how the American teams have fared so far against East Division foes this season.

Regina has been the only team for the Warriors' division that's went into the United States this year and came away with a winning record, going 3-2 in November.  Brandon (1-4), Saskatoon (0-5) and Swift Current (0-5) are a combined 1-14 during their swings, while Prince Albert will be heading south next month.

“We know they have a great division out there, all five teams are really strong teams, and we've definitely got some video to prepare us for it, but it's going to be a hard trip,” said Fioretti.  “It's going to take a complete sixty and everyone in that dressing room for us to have success.”

The Warriors will ride the bus for around 23 hours before arrive in Portland later on Thursday.  They'll get about a day to shake off the bus legs before facing the division-leading Winterhawks in the opening game of the trip on Friday.

“Going out there we've seen teams like Brandon and that go 0-5, so we're hoping to have a better fate, but competition wise it's good to go up against teams that you get to play against just once per year,” said Warkentine.

For the Warriors large group of young players, it will be the first trip into the US Division for them.  Warkentine said he learnt during their BC trip last year that everyone needs to be contributing every night to have success on these long road trips.

“Last year I was playing the fourth line, we rolled the lines and we actually had a very successful trip,” said Warkentine.  “In the short amount of time and lots of games, you have to have everyone going, you can just use two lines, you have to have everyone.”

The veterans in the Warriors' lineup are going to be key players going into the road trip, especially just for the younger players to lean on for advice against teams they aren't too familiar with.

Overage defenceman Jesse Forsberg spent a season with the Seattle Thunderbirds before coming to Moose Jaw.  He will be one of the important players for information.

“Forsy was talking about how Seattle is pretty nuts, and Everett, and pretty most of the rinks down there it's like a show, so that will be pretty interesting to see,” said Warkentine.

“He's just said it's a completely different type of league with a lot more speed and skill over there and then over here it's more the grinding type and what the Western Hockey League is all about.”

The Warriors will have to adjust to type of game being played quickly or risk falling into the hole that Saskatoon, Brandon and Swift Current all fell victim to.  The tribe will open the road trip on Friday in Portland.  You can catch all the action live on Country 100, starting with the Pre-Game Show at 8:40pm.
