The Moose Jaw Warriors were all smiles at practice on Wednesday after their dominating win over the Tri-City Americans on Tuesday night at Mosaic Place.

"That's what we needed, the past couple of games we were playing good and doing things right, we just weren't finding the back of the net, so for us to get seven, that's obviously a good feeling," said Forward Tate Popple, who was one of seven different goal scorers in the Warriors' 7-0 win.

The Warriors had the second-lowest goal total in the league heading into Tuesday's offensive outburst, which up their goal-per-game average from 2.8 to 3.1 in one night.

Popple said the Warriors didn't change anything, but shots just started going in.

"We stuck to the system, even when we were up a bit, we were still getting back on D, helping our goalie out and everyone was just doing things right," he said.

"We've talked a lot lately about when you see a loose puck, go get it at 110-percent and that's what we did a lot of [Tuesday] night."

Popple has started to find a groove after a slow start to the season. It took seven games for him to score his first goal of the season, but he has two goals and three points in his last five games.

The 18-year-old said his confidence is building, "A bit of a slow start, so it’s nice to contribute and produce a little more, and hopefully, I can keep it going," said Popple.

The Warriors have good momentum as they prepare to head out on their first road trip of the season this weekend. Moose Jaw has played 12 of its first 17 games at Mosaic Place, but the Warriors venture to the Central Division for games against Lethbridge and Kootenay this weekend.

"We haven't been on a road trip yet, so it will be nice to get some bonding with the boys and hopefully we do well with it," said Popple.

The Warriors will be in Lethbridge on Saturday and then Cranbrook on Sunday.
