Some hardware is coming back with two local minor hockey teams from tournaments over the weekend.

The Atom B Stingrays walked away with a tournament title over the weekend as they brought home gold from the Prince Albert Tournament.

The Stingrays won 4-1 over the Prince Albert Bandits in the final on Sunday to pick-up the championship. That also allowed them to avenge their only loss of the tournament after falling 6-0 to the Bandits during the round robin.

Moose Jaw bounced back with a 9-3 win over the Aberdeen Flames in the semifinal on Sunday to set up the rematch with Prince Albert.

The Stingrays led the Moose Jaw Atom B League with a 10-0-1 record this season. Next league action for the Stingrays is on Feb. 24 when they face the Hawks.

The Moose Jaw Atom B Whalers after winning the Medicine Hat Tournament over the weekend. (Submitted photo)

The Atom B Whalers were unbeaten on their way to the championship at the Medicine Hat Tournament. They beat the Lumsden/Bethune Monarchs, 6-5, in the final on Sunday.

Over the course of the weekend, the Whalers picked up three wins and one tie to capture gold..

The Whalers are 5-3-3 on the year and they return to the ice against the Hawks on Friday at the Kinsmen Arena.

The Moose Jaw Midget AA Mavericks had a busy three-in-three weekend to finish off the regular season in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

The Mavericks lost 8-0 to the Regina Capitals on Friday; they then dropped a 7-1 game to the Parkland Lions on Saturday; before finishing things with a 5-5 tie against the Lions on Sunday.

Myra Szabo had a big game on Sunday, scoring a hat trick, to help the Mavericks to the tie. Taylor Mantel scored the other two goals for Moose Jaw on Sunday.

The lone goal for the Mavericks on Saturday came from Talia King.

The Mavericks finish the regular season with a 5-19-4 record, which puts them in seventh place. 

Moose Jaw will now meet the Capitals in a best-of-three first round series, which starts on Friday in the Queen City. Game 2 will be on Saturday here in Moose Jaw, puck drops at 5:15 p.m. at the Bert Hunt Arena. If necessary, Game 3 will be on Sunday back in Regina.

The Moose Jaw Peewee Mavericks also had a busy weekend to end the regular season, hitting the ice on Friday and Sunday.

The Mavericks rolled to a big 7-1 win over the Weyburn Gold Wings on Friday at the Kinsmen Arena, but they lost 13-2 to the Wood River Ice Cats on Sunday in Lafleche.

Jesse Mielke had a hat trick and five points to lead the Mavericks on Friday, while Jasmine Kohl chipped in with two goals and six points. Sadie Hughes added a goal and three points, and Ashley Breitkreuz scored the other goal for Moose Jaw.

On Sunday, the Mavericks gave up four first period goals to fall behind the eight-ball and they couldn’t recover. Kohl scored both goals in the loss for the Mavericks, while Mielke had two assists.

The Mavericks finished the regular season with a 5-14-5 record. They will open the playoffs against the Southwest Cyclones on Monday night in Gull Lake.

The Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks finished the regular season with a 4-4 tie against the Regina Tigers on Saturday night.

Nikita Halyk had two goals, while Sidney Ellingson picked up a goal and two points. Makayla Anderson had the other marker for the Mavericks in the draw.

The Mavericks posted a 22-2-2 record this season to finish in first place in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

No playoff dates have been announced yet.

The Moose Jaw Midget A Warriors split their two games over the weekend in the Hockey Regina League.

The Warriors won 5-3 over the Regina Cougars on Friday, while they lost 9-1 to the Regina Mustangs on Saturday.

On Friday, Nic Lariviere opened the scoring only 27 seconds into the game and Jordan Johnson made it 2-0 for the Warriors with 1:16 left in the first.

Johnson scored his second of the game and Dawson Colenutt also found the back of the net in the second period for the Warriors to give them a 4-1 lead after two.

Mathieu Rose extended Moose Jaw’s lead to four goals early in the third period to seal the win.

In Saturday’s contest, Talen Hoover opened the scoring only 1:09 into the game, but the Mustangs scored nine unanswered after that.

Friday was the Warriors’ first win of the season as they sit at 1-19-0 on the year. They return to the ice on Monday in Wilcox against the Notre Dame Hounds.

The Moose Jaw Midget AA Warriors dropped a pair of games this weekend, falling 6-3 to the Weyburn Wings on Saturday and losing 10-1 to the Lumsden/Bethune Lions on Sunday.

Josh Fitzpatrick had two goals and three points in Saturday’s loss, while Hayden Wiebe added a goal and two points. Cooper Cole also picked up a pair of assists.

On Sunday, Garrick Ward had the lone goal for the Warriors in the loss.

The Warriors sit at 5-24-2 on the year. They return to the ice on Tuesday night against the Regina Vics.

The Moose Jaw Peewee AA Warriors lost a pair of games, 11-4, to the Swift Current Broncos and the Weyburn Wings in the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League.

In Friday’s loss to Swift Current, Caleb Newkirk and Haydn Hudyma had two goals and three points each. 

On Sunday, Liam Fitzpatrick and Rowan Calvert had a goal and two points each in the loss. Austin Woodley scored the other goal for Moose Jaw.

The Warriors have a 5-17-2 record. They will finished the regular season on Friday against the Estevan Bruins at the Red Knight Arena.

The Moose Jaw Bantam AA Warriors finished off their season with a couple of losses over the weekend in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League.

Evan Osberg and Connor Ruckaber scored in Saturday’s 9-2 loss to the Battlefords Barons.

The Warriors lost 21-0 to the West Central Wheat Kings on Sunday.

They went 0-31-0 this season.
