There was no luck of the Irish for the Regina Shamrocks on Thursday night in the SHA Peewee AA Tier II provincial semifinal.

The Moose Jaw Peewee A Warriors booked their ticket into the provincial final with a 10-5 win over the Shamrocks on Thursday at the Bert Hunt Arena. They won the two-game total point series, 12-9.

“It felt great, we knew that we had to go hard in this game and we came through,” said Warriors captain Carter Michaluk, who had two assists in the win for Moose Jaw.

Layne Gadd had a hat trick and five points, while Nolan Kearns also picked up a hat trick in the win for Moose Jaw. Cole King finished with a goal and three points.

Warriors head coach Russ MacDonald said it was a great all around effort from the team to pull out the victory, “Being down 2-0, we had a few of them nervous and talking about what if we lose, and we said at the end of the day, it's going to be a good experience and whatever happens, happens,” he said.

“The big thing is this team has never given up all year long, they've worked hard and our game plan paid off, we knew we'd wear them down with our speed and effort and that's the way that it panned out.”

Moose Jaw's Dalton Cushway opened the scoring less than two minutes in, but the game was tight checking through the first period with Regina taking a 2-1 lead after one to sit in the driver’s seat for the series.

The Warriors were able to take momentum away midway through the second when Jacob Michelson tied the game. Nolan Kearns put Moose Jaw in front only 1:16 later.

After Regina tied the game back up, momentum really swung in the Warriors' favour in the final minutes of the second, Layne Gadd scored with 3:39 to go in the second to put Moose Jaw back in front and then Gadd's second of the game with 12.4 seconds to go put the Warriors up by two and evened the series going into the third.

With four minutes gone in the third, the Warriors put the game away, scoring three goals in a 44-second span. Gadd scored his hat trick goal with 4:01 gone in the third, Cole King followed it up 27 seconds later and then just 17 seconds after that, Cohen Coleman made it 8-3 for Moose Jaw.

Kearns finished off his hat trick with a goal at the 9:37 mark and another into an empty net with 14 seconds left.

Michaluk said the Warriors' constant speed ended up being too much for the Shamrocks to handle.

“We knew that they couldn't skate with us, so we just kept skating, kept pressuring and goals came as that happened,” he said. “We've got some pretty good shooters and passers on this team too.”

The Warriors will now face the winner of the north semifinal for the provincial title.

They're back on the ice coming up on Sunday in the Hockey Regina League playoffs.

Another Moose Jaw Peewee team is off to the provincial final as well after the Peewee B Sabres beat the Regina Tigers, 3-2 overtime, on Thursday night in the Queen City.

The win gave the Sabres a 4-3 win overall in the two-game total point SHA Peewee AA Tier III semifinal series.

Moose Jaw came out of the gates firing in Game 2, as Jaxyn Rayner scored just 12 seconds into the game and then Jacob Wilson followed that up to make it 2-0 with less than eight minutes gone in the game.

The score stayed that way until the third period when the Tigers scored twice to tie the game and send the series to overtime.

Rayner was the hero for the Sabres as he scored the overtime winning goal with 9:27 to play in the extra frame.

The Sabres will now take on the winner of the north semifinal in the provincial final.
