The U11 A Warriors are raring to go and will be ready once the season starts.

The team just had their tryouts over the weekend and put their skates on the ice for the first practice Monday at the Kinsmen Arena. The team will be playing in the Hockey Regina league once the season gets underway.

Head coach Dustin MacAngus talked about what they'll be doing before the season starts.

“We’re just going to start with our skill development drills here, and see where these kids are at, and we’ll continue to build off their base foundations that we’ve got so far,” MacAngus said.

MacAngus liked what he saw last night.

“There’s a great work ethic with these kids and a great skill set, and it’ll be a fun year with these kids as we watch them develop as we go through,” he said.

They won’t be getting into systems yet.

“We’ll just continue on doing some skill drills and some compete drills, and we’ll have a fun little tournament we’ll set up with this team to do throughout our tryout period until we’re opened up for games,” MacAngus said.

The Hockey Regina league has been competitive for Moose Jaw teams in the past. Moose Jaw teams combined for eight wins in the 14 team A circuit.

“It’ll really test our commitment and our skill level as we go forward,” MacAngus said.
