The U13 AA Moose Jaw Warriors are heading into their pre-season game hoping to avoid the roller-coaster.

Warriors head coach Shane Smith is hoping that emphasis on playing a full 60 minutes will help his team find success this weekend. Smith's Warriors will be playing a home and home with the Melville Millionaires this weekend as they start their regular season. Smith said they've been doing a lot of good things in the offensive zone.

“Just stay even keel,” Smith said. “We talked about players not having a roller coaster of emotions, with not getting too high and not getting too low. Just make sure we stay even keel and build off the success we’ve been having.”

After the exhibition season that saw the team’s offensive flair on showcase, practices have been going well for the Warriors.

“Lots of good puck movement and we just need to play a full 60 minutes,” he said. “I can’t stress playing 60 minutes enough. We have a lot of skill on our team but we’ve got to put a full effort in and play some good defence too. We kind of had some mental lapses and that cost us some goals against in our last exhibition game, but the boys are excited and ready to get going here.”

The Warriors are in Melville Saturday and then take on the Millionaires Sunday afternoon at the Kinsmen Arena. Before the end of November, they’ll have a pair of home and home series’ with Weyburn and Yorkton.
