Josh Uhrich and Team West have to be happy with their play in an exhibition game before the start of the 2013 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge.

Uhrich had two assists in a 5-2 win over Slovakia in Team West’s only tune up game for the tournament.

Haydn Fleury opened the scoring for Team West with a power play goal midway through the first period, Uhrich assisted on the goal.  Slovakia tied it up five minutes later with a power play goal by Lukas Berak, but Jordan Thomson scored two minutes later for Team West.

Slovakia tied the game back up in the second period with another power play goal, this time by Marco Halama.  It was all Team West from there with Collin Shirley scoring midway through the second to make it 3-2.

A shorthanded goal by Ryley Lindgren just 2:09 into the third gave Team West a 4-2 lead and Ryan Pilon blew the game open a 1:17 later with a power play goal.  Uhrich picked up his second assist on the goal.

Miles Warkentine and Rhett Gardner were held off the scorer sheet for Team West in the game.  They open the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge against Sweden on Saturday.
