The World Under-17 Hockey Challenge hit the ice in London, Ontario Wednesday with five exhibition games.

The Moose Jaw Warriors are well represented at the tournament with 16-year-old forwards Torrin White and Carter Hansen suiting up. White will play for Team Pacific, while Hansen will be part of Team West.

White picked up a goal and two points in Team Pacific's 4-1 win over Sweden.  He says he's been looking forward to this tournament for a while, "We had the camp in July, that was the real start of the process, and we haven't had anything since then, so it's just been waiting and I think it's going to be crazy, it's going to be fun."

Team Pacific comes into the tournament as one of the favourites, featuring some top young talent from the Western Hockey League and, White says, he likes the pressure that comes with being a gold medal favourite, "We've got to have the strongest team, it's going to all depend how we come together, but I think I'll have a really good chance.

"I think my development since the start of the year has been awesome and I think that's really set me up for this Under-17 and hopefully, I'll be a really big part of the team."

White and Hansen won't have to wait long to square off against each other as Team Pacific gets Team West in the opener. White says he's jacked to square off against his teammate, "Hopefully there's a big crowd and I think it's going to be a really good game. Two of the top teams going at it right off the bat."

The puck drops on that game at 6:00pm. Other opening day games have Quebec squaring off against Atlantic, Ontario taking on Germany and the U.S. facing the Czech Republic.
