A pair of Moose Jaw teams made the playoff round at the senior boys invitational on the weekend.

Vanier coach Levi Broda's team made the top tier of the playoffs but lost to Yorkton in the semifinal Saturday.

“It’s nice to see some of our closer schools in our gyms,” said Broda. “Teams like Rouleau, for example, are really close to us geographically but we don’t run into them at a lot of tournaments.”

In the other Tier I semifinal, Rouleau defeated Weyburn.

Cal Carter, the head coach of the Central Cyclones, said that one bad game put them in the other side of the tournament.

“But the boys rallied, and we had an awesome day today,” said Carter. “So I can’t complain about how we played. We ended up in the Tier II final and won it, third set pretty handily. So I’m pretty happy.”

Central defeated Lumsden 25-18. 21-25, 15-6 in the Tier II final. Lumsden defeated Mossbank in the semifinal, and Central defeated Oxbow in their semi.

On the first day, Cornerstone and Riverview both went 0-6 in their three sets and B.C.A. went 4-2 in their pool, knocking Central down to the second tier.

Vanier are defending city champions. The regular season gets back underway tomorrow night and city playoffs start Nov. 5.
