The Vanier Vikings got back to their winning ways in the Moose Jaw High School Senior Volley League

The Vikings are undefeated in the regular season won 3-1 over the Central Cyclones last night at Central.

“We weren’t at our consistent best today, but the boys were matched by an opponent that showed up and played with high intensity,” Vikings head coach Levi Broda. “They were very scrappy tonight and it was a hard fought battle today. I think that at the end of the day if we meet with Central again, it’s going to be a battle.”

Broda said his team executed well during the match.

“Some of our sets where we struggled we didn’t run our offense the way we wanted to,” he said. “This last set we were able to pass a little bit sharper, serve a little bit better and we could run our offense.

Central was able to extend a lot of rallies throughout the game but it seemed like Vanier always had an answer.

The Vikings have one more tournament to finish off the season before playoffs, heading to Leboldus in Regina this weekend

In the girls league game, Vanier beat Central three games to none and Peacock defeated Cornerstone three sets to none.

The boys division saw Cornerstone defeat Avonlea in five sets (20-25, 25-23, 27-25, 23-25, 12-15), and B.C.A. defeated Riverview/Mortlach 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-20).

In the girls league games, Vanier won 3-0 (25-19, 25-11, 25-21) and Peacock swept Cornerstone 3-0 ( 25-17, 25-15, 25-8)
