Ending the first half on a high note is the first priority for the Moose Jaw Warriors as they prepare for a home-and-home against the Regina Pats this weekend.

With a ten-day break on the horizon following these two games, it's easy to look ahead, but forward Tate Popple said the Warriors aren't looking ahead to holidays yet.

"It's two games that we're capable of winning and that's what we've got to go out and do," said Popple.

"We're confident, we went on a bit of a run there, which is nice, and then we had some lapses in a couple of games, which bit us in the butt, but we're feeling good now, we're back on the right path and we've just got to finish off strong."

Since winning eight straight at the end of November, the Warriors have dropped three of their last four games, but continue to play good hockey in those losses.

Popple said the Warriors know that if they stick to their game plan, they'll be in every game, "Obviously you never want to have those [lapses], but over the course of a season it's going to happen, it's nice to know that we still have the ability to always be in the game and never put ourselves out," he said.

Popple's play over the past month has been a key part of the Warriors' success. He has points in four of his last five games and six of his last eight. He also has a career-high seven goals in 27 games this season.

"I had a bit of a slow start, but things have picked up lately, which is nice, it's always nice to feel like you're contributing," said Popple. "I had a couple of meetings with Tim and Alan and they just said to keep working and that it was going to come and it has, which is nice."

The Warriors will travel into the Queen City on Friday night and then host the Pats for Teddy Bear Toss Night on Saturday night at Mosaic Place. The Pre-Game Show is on the air both nights at 6:40 p.m. on Country 100.
