The Moose Jaw Warriors were not able to convert on their power-play chances and fell 5-0 to the Regina Pats Saturday at the Brandt Centre.

The first period was back and forth as both teams tried to play to their strengths.  Moose Jaw had a fast attack up the ice while Regina leaned on an aggressive fore-check.

Moose Jaw outshot the Pats 14-7 in the opening period but they were not able to find the back of the net and went into the first intermission scoreless.

In the second period, both teams had plenty of time on their power-plays to try and find some offence.  The teams had two power-plays each and combined for 29 shots in the frame.

At 12:54, the Pats picked up the puck up inside their zone just as they were going on the man-advantage.  They lifted the puck up the ice and hit Carson Denomie coming out of the penalty box, he converted on his rush to give Regina the 1-0 lead.

98 seconds into the third period, Pats defenceman Zach Wytinck came down the left boards and picked up the puck below goal line and converted on a wrap-around to double their lead.

Regina kept coming, they scored two more goals 13 seconds apart at 4:11 and 4:24 to extend their lead.

Moose Jaw were outshot 16-5 in the final 20 minutes, Regina went on to add another power-play goal and handed the Warriors a 5-0 loss.

Moose Jaw was 0-for-6 on the power-play and 2-for-4 on the penalty kill.

The Warriors will now get ready to wrap up 2019 on Tuesday when they take on the Brandon Wheat Kings at Mosaic Place in a New Year’s Eve battle.
