Josh Brook will be spending the Christmas holidays on the West Coast.

The Moose Jaw Warriors captain was one of seven defencemen named to Team Canada on Friday night following the completion of the World Junior Selection Camp in Victoria.

This will be Brook's first time playing for Canada at the IIHF World Junior Championship, but it will be his fourth time overall throwing on the maple leaf. He joins fellow Warrior captains Brett Howden and Brayden Point who have recently played for Canada at the World Juniors.

Brook will be joined by Spokane Chiefs captain Ty Smith as the lone WHL defencemen for Canada. Prince Albert goalie Ian Scott was also named to the team.

Canada is still carrying 15 forwards and will need to trim two more from their roster before Christmas Day.

The Canadians start their pre-tournament schedule on Wednesday when they host Switzerland at Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in Victoria. Canada will also play Slovakia next Friday and Finland on Dec. 23 in pre-tournament action.

The World Juniors open on Boxing Day with Canada taking on Denmark at Rogers Arena in Vancouver.
