The Moose Jaw Warriors play four games in six days this week, all against the Central Division.

They kick things off on Tuesday night by taking on the division leader with the Medicine Hat Tigers making their first trip to Mosaic Place this season.

The game will be a battle between two division leaders with the Warriors entering holding a four-point lead on top of the East Division after taking three out of four points from the Swift Current Broncos over the weekend.

After winning 3-2 on Saturday in Swift Current, the Warriors are ripe with confidence in their game.

“Saturday was a huge four-point game and we came out hard and had a good character game,” said forward Tanner Jeannot.  “We had some key guys out of the lineup, so some of those younger guys stepped up and we played really hard for the full 60 and it worked out well for us.”

The Warriors were missing their leading scorer, Brayden Burke; captain, Brett Howden; and one of their top defencemen, Jett Woo, for Saturday’s game.

It has been become an unwanted standard for the Warriors this season to be missing some key pieces of the lineup, but the team has battled through that adversity well and Jeannot said Saturday was another case of that.

“It just shows the depth that this team has,” he said. “We have some pretty skilled guys, but it goes pretty deep as we’ve shown here when those skill guys are out.”

He added that they need to play the same way when they have a full lineup, “We’ve just got to keep working, keep sticking to our game plan and when those guys are in, keep that same work ethic and we’ll be a really good team,” said Jeannot, who has set a career-high with 20 goals in 28 games this season.

Heading into Tuesday’s match-up with the Tigers, the Warriors know that their physical play will be key against a speedy team like Medicine Hat.

The Warriors looked to set the physical tone all weekend against Swift Current and it paid off in the end and they’re looking for a similar result against the Tigers.

“You want to take the hits when they’re there, you don’t want to go out of your way and get caught, which is what can happen when you’re playing small, quicker teams,” said Jeannot.  “We’ve just got to play smart and when you can, rub out their key guys and make it a long night for them.”

After Tuesday, the Warriors will head out on the road for three games in four nights in Alberta.  Jeannot added that they need to use their showdown with Medicine Hat to build momentum before the road trip.

“We need to get this game under our belt, build some momentum and then just keep it going on the road trip,” said Jeannot.

The Warriors and Tigers hit the ice at 7 p.m. Tuesday night.  The Pre-Game Show is on the air at 6:40 p.m. on Country 100.

Injury Update… None of the three players that missed action over the weekend were back on the ice for practice with the Warriors on Monday.  Burke left Friday’s game with a lower body injury and is day-to-day, while Howden and Woo are day-to-day with upper body injuries.
