Justin Paulic's 35 saves weren't enough to lead to the Warriors to the win on Tuesday night.

The shootout is the Moose Jaw Warriors worst enemy on their US Division road trip so far as they lost their second straight in the skills competition on Tuesday night.

A late goal from Brayden Point sent the game to overtime, but the Warriors lost it in a shootout, falling 3-2 to the Seattle Thunderbirds on Tuesday at the Showare Center.

“Shootouts are a karma,” said Mike Vanderberghe, Warriors assistant coach.  “We've just got to score, we're losing them 1-0 here and that's not good.  We've got our big guys shooting and we're hoping for them to put it home sooner or later.”

The game was a battle for the Warriors as they trailed 2-0 early, but Point scored both Warrior goals, one late in the first and one with seven seconds to go, to send the game into extra time.

“I thought Brayden did some good things and obviously when he got the opportunity, he made the most of it,” said Vandenberghe.  “Overall, I thought we all worked pretty hard.”

Goalie Justin Paulic was one of the Warriors that put in a full effort of hard work as he stopped 35 shots during regulation and overtime, and then two more in the shootout, but it wasn't enough to overcome a shaky start by the team.

“I thought he made some big saves there late in the game and gave us a chance, so that was awesome,” said Vandenberghe.  “After the first few minutes, everyone settled down.”

The game didn't start great for the Warriors as Seattle was able to jump out to a 2-0 lead in the opening four minutes.  They got goals from Scott Eansor just 33 seconds in and then Ethan Bear added to that lead just 3:13 later as the Thunderbirds came flying out of the gate.

The Warriors got stronger as the period went on and finally got on the board with 23 seconds to go in the opening frame.  Point came out from behind the net and roofed his 21st of the season over Taran Kozun to make it 2-1 after one.

The score remained the same in the second period, but the two teams continued to battle throughout the frame.  Just before the midway point of the period Seattle's Keegan Kolesar hit Brandon Potomak from behind, causing a couple fights to break out.  Spenser Jensen and Kevin Wolf both received game misconducts leaving both teams down a defenceman for the rest of the game.

Seattle started a parade to the penalty box midway through the third period, but the Warriors just couldn't capitalize.  Kozun continued to turn away the Moose Jaw chances, making ten saves in the third, but it was the last shot by the Warriors that sent the game to overtime.

Point found the puck during a mad scramble in front of the net and scored his second of the game with just seven seconds to go in regulation.  It came on a 6-on-4 for the Warriors and their eighth power play opportunity of the game.

Overtime solved nothing, so the game went to the shootout.  Point, Torrin White and Sam Fioretti were all stopped by Kozun, while Shea Theodore scored the lone goal for Seattle for the win.

Moose Jaw was 1-for-8 on the power play in the loss, while going 6-for-7 on the penalty kill.

The Warriors get right back on the horse on Wednesday night as they make their way to Tri-City to face the Americans in game four of their six-game road trip.  You can catch all the action on Country 100, starting with the Pre-Game Show at 8:40pm.
