The Moose Jaw Warriors will be looking to turn the page on their second round series against the Winnipeg ICE after losing the first two games of the series on the road.

Moose Jaw lost 7-0 to Winnipeg in Game 2 at the Wayne Fleming Arena on Saturday night, falling behind 2-0 in the best-of-seven series.

“This team plays really well in their home rink and credit to them, they’ve came out really strong this past couple of games and took advantage of their home ice, so we’ve got to regroup,” Warriors forward Cordel Larson said.

The Warriors were outscored 13-1 in the two games in Winnipeg to open the series.

Warriors assistant coach Gord Burnett said the team is a bit frustrated after those two losses.

“Winnipeg plays a hard game, we’re going to have to be ready to go when we get home,” he said. “We have a couple of days to regroup and make sure we’re ready to go come Tuesday and Wednesday.”

Moose Jaw started better in Game 2, but still found themselves behind quickly as Jack Finley scored back-to-back goals for Winnipeg just 46 seconds apart in the opening four minutes.

Connor McClennon made it 3-0 after one with a power play goal midway through the first period.

The ICE started quickly in the second with Matthew Savoie scoring shorthanded just 1:12 into the frame.

Mikey Milne added to the lead just under five minutes later and Zachary Benson made it a 6-0 game after 40 with another shorthanded goal for the ICE.

Chase Wheatcroft finished off the scoring in the third period.

Winnipeg scored two power play goals and two shorthanded goals in the win.

“If we’re going to have success against these guys, we’re going to have to be better on our special teams, no question,” Burnett said.

Larson said the Warriors need to get back to the structure that they had in their first round series win against Saskatoon.

“They’re a team that really transitions extremely fast, any turnover anywhere on the ice, it seems like they’re flying back the other way,” he said.

“Penalty trouble has been an issue for us, so we got to manage our emotions better, stay out of the box and take on these guys five-on-five.”

Despite two tough losses on the road, Larson said the Warriors are ready to respond back on home ice.

“This series is a long ways from over,” he said. “We’ve beaten this team before, proven we can play with them, so it’s just a matter of getting back to what works for us and playing Warriors hockey.

“We’re looking forward to our fans and all the support around us, it’s time to hit the reset button and look forward to Tuesday and Wednesday.”

The Warriors host the ICE for Game 3 on Tuesday and Game 4 on Wednesday at Mosaic Place.
