Special teams had a huge impact in the 2017 WHL Preseason opener at Mosaic Place as the Swift Current Broncos scored three goals on the man advantage and beat the Moose Jaw Warriors, 4-0, on Tuesday night.

Early in the game, Warriors 16-year-old forward Brayden Tracey hammered the Broncos post on a shot streaking down the left wing, and even though they produced more good opportunities throughout the period, Moose Jaw wasn't able to drill the puck over the goal line.

Swift Current picked up the only goals of the first period when the capitalized on power plays with markers from Logan Barlage and Ben King gave the visitors a 2-0 lead rolling into the first intermission.

Special teams impacted the second period as well as the Broncos converted on a two-man advantage at 13:56 to take a three goal lead when King swatted in a loose puck beside the Warriors net for his second goal of the game.

King picked up his hat trick goal late in the third period and the Broncos skated to the shutout win.

Moose Jaw was 0-for-4 on the power play and Swift Current was 3-for-8 on the man advantage, while the Broncos out-shot the Warriors, 27-20.

The Warriors will have Wednesday off before preparing for the annual Regina Preseason Tournament coming up on the weekend. Moose Jaw will play Swift Current at 3 p.m. Thursday and then close out the tournament on Saturday against Regina at 7 p.m.
