Two third-period goals lifted the Moose Jaw Warriors to a 4-3 win over the Spokane Chiefs on Saturday at Mosaic Place, extending their point streak to six games.

Daemon Hunt scored both goals in the third period for the Warriors, including the game-winning goal with 8:11 remaining in the game. The 16-year-old defenceman finished with three points in the win.

Brayden Tracey and Tate Popple also picked up a goal and two points each for the Warriors.

The first period was tight and physical, as both teams played with speed while looking to establish their fore-check and battled to get the puck to the net.

Spokane took a 1-0 lead at 18:38, as they worked on the power play, they moved the puck to the point for New Jersey Devils prospect Ty Smith, who put a low shot towards the Moose Jaw net that went off of a stick and past Goalie Brodan Salmond.

The second period didn't have the flow of the first period, as the teams tried to buckle down defensively to limit the quality scoring chances.

The Warriors were able to tie the game at one with seven minutes to go in the period when Popple came out from behind the net and snuck the puck past Dawson Weatherill with a shot from the right goal line.

Spokane went up 2-1 at 16:07, when a shot from Smith at the left blue line went off a stick between the circles and deflected to the back of the net.

The Warriors were able to respond in the final moments of the second period, as with 12 seconds left in the frame, Hunt took a shot from the left point that found its way to the Spokane net and the rebound came to

Tracey between the circles where his quick shot beat Weatherill to tie the game at two.

Early in the third period, the Warriors landed on the power play and they were able to capitalize when Daemon Hunt blasted a shot to the back of the net for his first goal of the season.

Shortly after pulling ahead, Warriors Captain Josh Brook was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for checking from behind. Spokane used the five-minute power play to even the game at three when Riley Woods scored at 8:29.

Moose Jaw as able to burn off the rest of their penalty kill, which seemed to supply them with a spark, as they were attacking the Spokane zone on a more consistent basis and were doing a good job of limiting the Chiefs' opportunities.

At 11:49, the Warriors won a face-off inside the Spokane left circle and worked the puck to the point for Hunt, he lifted a shot towards the net where it went off a stick and deflected over the goal line.

Throughout the remainder of the game, the Chiefs pushed hard for a game-tying goal, but the Warriors held their ground and pulled out the one-goal win.

Salmond was huge for the Warriors in the win as he made 27 saves to improve to 3-0-1-0 this season.

The Warriors are now off until next weekend now. On Friday, they'll host the Calgary Hitmen for the first time this season and then on Saturday, they'll venture into Regina for their second game this season against the Pats.
