After having this week off to rest up, the Moose Jaw Warriors are ready for a return to the game action this weekend when they head to Alberta for a two-game road trip.

The first place Warriors will be in Lethbridge to take on the Hurricanes on Friday night and then make their way to Medicine Hat on Saturday to battle the Tigers.

“We’re really looking forward to it,” said defenceman Brandon Schuldhaus before hitting the road on Thursday. “Obviously it’s nice to have a bit of practice time and some time off when the schedule gets busy, but after a few days, you’re looking forward to getting back into a game, so we’re really excited.”

The Warriors enter the weekend riding a three-game winning streak and with 11 wins in their 13 games since the Christmas break.

Moose Jaw has seen plenty of success against the Central Division this season, posting a 15-1-0 record, including a 3-0 mark against the division-leading Tigers. However, this will be the first meeting of the season with Lethbridge on Friday.

Schuldhaus said they won’t get any easy game from either the Hurricanes or Tigers.

“Lethbridge is definitely a lot different than the last time that I played them, but they work hard and they’ve got a lot of players that are younger, but they’re going to try to outwork teams, so we’ve got to match their work ethic,” said Schuldhaus.

“We’ve seen the Tigers more and they’re the same as Lethbridge, they’re not the oldest team, but they work hard, they’ve got some speed and skilled players. They try to outwork teams and teams might take them lightly, but we’re going to have to take both teams seriously and be at our best.”

Schuldhaus was acquired by the Warriors from Red Deer at the start of January and this weekend will mark the first time that he’s been able to head out on the road with the team.

The 19-year-old rearguard said he’s looking forward to the chance at bonding with the team.

“I’m looking forward to it, it’s a good opportunity for us to bond and get closer together coming down the home stretch,” said Schuldhaus.

The Warriors and Hurricanes hit the ice at 8 p.m. Friday night. The Pre-Game Show will be on the air at 7:40 p.m. on Country 100.

On Saturday, puck drop is at 8:30 p.m. from the Canalta Centre with the Pre-Game Show on the air at 8:10 p.m.
