Warriors forward Torrin White.

After ten days and six games on the road, the Moose Jaw Warriors are back in the Friendly City.

The road trip to the US Division went for the tribe how it’s gone for the majority of East Division teams this season, as they return with an 0-4-0-2 record.

“Obviously it’s a strong division and six games in ten days wears you down, but still no excuses in the end, you’ve still got to bring the same game you do the first game as you do the sixth game,” said forward Torrin White.

The Warriors started the road trip with an 8-2 loss to Portland and ended on a 6-2 loss to Kootenay.  Those were the two most lopsided losses of the trip, otherwise the team was in most games, but struggled with their starts, giving up the first goal in half the games.

Against Kootenay on Saturday, the Warriors looked like they had broken that trend, scoring just 11 seconds into the game, but they couldn’t nail the finish.

“I thought we did a real good job of coming out of the gates in a hurry and did what we wanted to do, get on them early,” said Mark O’Leary, Warriors assistant coach.  “Unfortunately a couple of quick strikes and they were right back in it.”

The road trip was a long one for the Warriors thanks to the six straight losses — which extended their winless streak to seven games overall — but the team is looking forward to get back to their regular routine now and breaking the slump.

“It’s a long time to be on the road, but we certainly wish we came up with a few more points,” said O’Leary.  “I thought we saw a lot of good things on the trip and we certainly deserved a better fate.”

The Warriors did pick up two points during the trip, losing in a shootout to Everett and Seattle in games that they came back to tie, but couldn’t pull off the win.

It will now be back to the drawing board over the next five days for the team as they return to their own locker room and the familiar confines of Mosaic Place.

“Get a week of rest here and get a fresh start and hopefully get going here,” said White.  “We’ve definitely got to stay positive, but also all the guys have to look in the mirror and ask if they want to be here because 0-6 on a road trip is unacceptable.”

The Warriors next game action is on Friday when they host the Prince George Cougars at Mosaic Place.  They’ll head to Regina the next night for another battle with the Pats.
