Torrin White breaks in on Brandon goalie Corbin Boes during the preseason finale last Saturday.

As the preparations continue off the ice for the Moose Jaw Warriors home opener coming up on Friday night against the Swift Current Broncos, the tribe was back on the ice at Mosaic Place on Tuesday to work out some kinks before the big game.

17-year-old forward Torrin White says the team is chomping at the bit to get the season underway, "It's been a long time since camp started, we got here on the 20th of August, so it's been almost a good month and we've been working hard and working on a lot of things, so we're ready to go."

White is coming into his sophomore season after posting 10 goals and 17 points in 62 games last season with the tribe.   He says he wants to take on a bigger role with the team this year, "I think last year I really took in what the older guys had to offer and I learnt from what they could do and I think I'm ready to go.

"I was working hard this summer because we were losing a lot of guys, so I knew that I would have to play a bigger role here.  I think (this season) is going to be a good one."

As White mentioned, and has been talked about during the lead up to the season, there was quite a bit of turnover on the Warriors roster, but White thinks they should be just fine with plenty of skill coming in.

"We're trying a couple of new things because we don't quite have the skill on forward that we had last year, but I think we have the same scoring ability to put the puck in the net, so if we switch a couple things up (with the powerplay) and learn some new things, we will be ready."

The Warriors and Broncos face off at 7:00pm on Friday night at Mosaic Place.  The season opening home-and-home shifts to Swift Current on Saturday.  You can catch both games on Country 100 (100.7 FM).
