The Moose Jaw Warriors will be hosting 72 players starting on Wednesday night for their 2016 training camp at Mosaic Place.  Players from across Western Canada, United States and Russia will be making an appearance at the camp as they look to crack the Warriors’ roster for the 2016-17 WHL season.  

Of the 72 players at camp, there will be seven goalies, 25 defencemen and 41 forwards with 15 of those players returning from last year’s team that made it to the second round of the WHL playoffs.

The Warriors will be hosting 31 players that were acquired through the WHL Bantam Draft, while ten were listed by the organization, five were acquired through trade – including the two incoming 20-year-olds, Matt Sozanski and Dakota Odgers – and 26 are camp invites.

There are also four Moose Jaw products – Jeron Kletzel, Ahmed Ally, Chantz Petruic and Logan Hauser – taking part in this year’s camp.

Training camp opens on Thursday morning with fitness testing for all 72 players and then the rookie camp hits the ice on Thursday afternoon for practices at 2, 3 and 4 p.m.

The first scrimmage of rookie camp is on Thursday night at 7 p.m.

On Friday, the veterans hit the ice for the first time with practices at 8 and 9 a.m., and then the second scrimmage of rookie camp goes at 10 a.m.

There’s more main camp practices at 2 and 3 p.m. before rookie camp wraps up with a final scrimmage at 5 p.m. Friday.

Main camp takes over on the weekend with scrimmages at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Saturday and then another one on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. before the annual Black and White Game wraps things up at 4 p.m. on Sunday.

All practices and scrimmages are hosted at Mosaic Place, open to public and free.

The Warriors will host the Swift Current Broncos for their annual rookie game on Tuesday night at Mosaic Place.
