The Moose Jaw Warriors scored four goals in the second period and went on to a 6-3 win over the Calgary Hitmen Sunday at Scotiabank Saddledome to close out their 3-game road trip to Alberta.

A sold out Scotiabank Saddledome anxiously waited for the Hitmen’s first goal of the game and it didn’t take long.

On the power play and approaching the midway point of the first period Jake Bean set up Vladislav Yeryomenko inside the right circle where he scored the Hitmen’s Teddy Bear Toss goal, sending the game in to a 35 minute delay.

When play continued in the first period the Hitmen continued to pressure the Warriors net, they outshot Moose Jaw 14-11 in the frame but thanks to timely saves from Adam Evanoff the Warriors remained down by one.

Just over a minute in to the second period the Hitmen extended their league when Andrei Grishakov jumped on a rebound on top of the Moose Jaw crease.

At 2:38 the Warriors line of Justin Almeida, Brayden Burke, and Tanner Jeannot had the Hitmen pinned.  Almeida and Jeannot forced the puck to the top of the Hitmen crease, a loose puck bounced to Burke on the left side where he scored his 14th of the year.

Moose Jaw tied the game at 6:21 when Warriors Captain Brett Howden jumped on a loose puck in the neutral zone.  Howden entered on the right and the skated to the left circle, he swung the puck cross ice to a wide open Jayden Halbgewachs at the bottom of the right circle where he scored his team leading 31st goal which also extended his point streak to 18 games.

Just under a minute later the Hitmen took the lead again when Jake Kryski was left alone between the circles.

Moose Jaw fought back late in the frame and tied the game at three on Dmitri Zaitsev’s first goal of the year at 17:29 while playing 4-on-4.

When 4-on-4 ended the Warriors went on to their first power play of the game and it only took them seconds to capitalize.

Brayden Burke fought the puck away from two Hitmen on the left wall and slid the puck cross ice to the right circle for Jayden Halbgewachs.  Halbgewachs saw Josh Brook streaking to the net on the left wing where he tapped in his first of the season to give the Warriors a 4-3 lead.

In the third the Warriors clamped down defensively as they blocked shots and knocked down Hitmen passes and limited them to just four shots in the period.

At 9:19 Brett Howden came out from behind the Calgary net and skated on top of the crease and slid puck in on a backhand for his 13th of the season.  The Warriors put the game out of reach just over a minute later on Jayden Halbgewachs second of the evening.

Halbgewachs finished with two goals and four points, Brayden Burke had a goal and three points, Brett Howden and Josh Brook had a goal and two points each, and Adam Evanoff made 26 saves for his 7th win of the season.

The Warriors came out of their 3-game road trip to Alberta with three wins, they have points in 11 straight games, and are 25-5-1-1 on the season.
