The Moose Jaw Warriors will play in front of their home crowd for just the second time in the past month on Thursday night. The Warriors host the Edmonton Oil Kings after playing 12 of their last 13 games on the road.

The Warriors feel like they're coming back home a better team than they were last month.

"Obviously any team would rather play at home in front of their crowd, but at the same time, it was good for us to be on the road for a bit, try to play on our heels and work off that, we just need to bring that to our home game," said Defenceman Jett Woo after Wednesday's practice.

During their lengthy stretch of road games, the Warriors posted a 9-3-1 record and they cemented themselves as one of the teams to watch in the Eastern Conference.

Moose Jaw is the only team in the Western Hockey League to have won 20 road games in each of the last three seasons.

They have a 10-8-4-2 record in 24 home games this season. With 10 of their final 16 games at home, Woo said the Warriors need to find a way to bring their road magic to Mosaic Place down the stretch.

"When you're on the road, you're not as comfortable, you try to get out of your comfort zone and work off that, we've been able to do that and we have a pretty good road record because of it," said Woo.

"The biggest thing is the quick turnarounds and how you can't take your foot off the gas, even for a little bit."

The Warriors will be going for a season-series sweep over the Oil Kings when they meet on Thursday night. Moose Jaw has won all three previous meetings, including a 5-2 win in Edmonton last month during the Warriors’ road trip.

"They're one of the top teams in the Central [Division], we've had some good battles against them this year, they're a good team, they've got a lot of skill, but at the same time, we've got just as much skill in our dressing room, and we've been able to progress throughout the season," said Woo. "If we play our systems and stick to things that have been giving us success lately, we'll be all right."

Thursday's game is the start of a busy stretch for the Warriors as they will host their Hall of Fame Induction Banquet on Friday and then welcome in the Regina Pats for the Hall of Fame Game on Saturday. Moose Jaw also heads to Prince Albert to face the league-leading Raiders on Monday.
