One night after getting roughed in Prince Albert, the Moose Jaw Warriors couldn’t get back into their groove as they were shutout by the Swift Current Broncos, 3-0 on Saturday night.

Glenn Gawdin scored twice and added an assist, while Jon Martin scored and had two points in the win for the Broncos.

The Warriors were unable to get anything going offensively during the game and forced goalie Landon Bow to make just 25 saves for the shutout.

The two teams battled to a scoreless first period with Swift Current outshooting, 10-5.

After the scoreless opening frame, the Broncos wasted no time getting on the board in the second period when Martin scored on a rebound in front just 56 seconds into the frame.

That goal seemed to spark the Broncos as they continued to pressure the Warriors throughout the first half of the period.  They would add to their lead midway through the frame with Gawdin beating Zach Sawchenko on a nice shot.

The Warriors fought back in the later portion of the period, but only mustered ten shots through two periods.

In the third, Moose Jaw still couldn’t find the spark that they needed to get things going and the Broncos capitalized late in the period when Gawdin tipped in a Max Lajoie point shot to make it 3-0 with just over seven minutes to go.

The Warriors put some good pressure on the Broncos late in the period with Sawchenko on the bench for the final three minutes, but couldn’t beat Bow.

Sawchenko made 32 saves in the loss as the Warriors were outshot for the 9th time in 12 games this season.

The Warriors will get a week of practice to regroup after back-to-back losses before they have three more East Division match-ups coming up next weekend with a home-and-home against the Regina Pats and a Sunday meeting with the Brandon Wheat Kings.
