The Moose Jaw Warriors are preparing for the 2020 WHL bantam draft, so we’re looking back in time to the best drafts of the 1994-2015 era.

Today, we look back at the 2015 draft to when the Warriors held the fourth and sixth picks overall. With those picks, they picked future NHL draft picks Jett Woo and Luka Burzan, as well as goaltender Adam Evanoff with a tenth round steal.

Woo was a second round pick of the Vancouver Canucks in 2018 after a 66 point season with the black, red and white, and Burzan was selected by the Colorado Avalanche in the sixth round in 2019.

Woo was traded to the Calgary Hitmen at least year's draft, with part of the return being last year's Warirors scoring leader, Ryder Korczak. Burzan was sent to Brandon a seasons and a half ago as part of the Kale Clague trade.

Evanoff was part of the goaltending tandem of the Warriors for a couple of seasons before this past season, where an injury delayed the start to his season. After making oer 20 stright appearances this year, he was sent to Victoria as part of a deal with Brayden Tracey that brought back goaltender Brock Gould, defenceman Nolan Jones and forward Logan Doust.

The Warriors used their eighth round selection on forward Brecon Wood, who played with Seattle and Swift Current after being traded from the Warriors for a draft pick in 2018. He has played 173 WHL games, 91 of which were with the Warriors, before finishing this past season with the Spruce Grove Saints of the AJHL.

The quality of the players was also evident in who ended up choosing the NCAA route. Middle round picks including defenceman Austin Chorney and forwards Louis Jamernik  and Erik Middendorf have all committed to NCAA collegiate hockey, although Middendorf left Colorado College in the fall to play in the USHL.
