Draft day is two days away and Jett Woo can hardly wait.

The Moose Jaw Warriors defenceman will be hoping to hear his name called in the first round of the 2018 NHL Draft from Dallas, Tex. on Friday.

"It's something new for me, to not have anything in my control really, and just to see how everything turns out, it's exciting," said Woo.

The Winnipeg, Man. product finished the season as the 28th ranked North American skater by NHL Central Scouting. He's been pegged to go anywhere from late in the first round to early in the third round.

Woo said he isn't nervous going into the weekend.

"I'm more just excited, I'm just going to enjoy the day and the weekend and see how everything turns out, but there's nothing I can control now, I did everything I could at the combine and throughout the year," said Woo.

Woo had an injury-plagued season for the Warriors in 2017-18. He suited up in just 44 games as he dealt with a pair of injuries that cost him time. When he was in the lineup, Woo played a big role on the WHL’s top regular season, posting nine goals and 25 points.

"I felt I did a lot of things well this year, I thought I did well doing the things that my coaches and team needed me to do, so that’s the biggest thing that I'm proud about this year," he said.

"Missing a couple of games, I got to see the ice from a different point of view, so I was able to see some new things and learn some new things, so that really helped me."

After dealing with some injuries during the season, Woo felt that he needed to go into the NHL Combine earlier this month and show that he wasn’t showing any ill effects.

"After the season, I gave myself two weeks to really heal my body and then only had two weeks to spend on strength and conditioning, and some of things that I did at the combine, I'm pretty proud of," said Woo.

"This year was unfortunate with the injuries that I had, so being able to go to the combine and do well really showed that the injuries didn't hold me back or set me back, so that was something that I was pretty happy about."

Woo will be in the crowd with his family on Friday and Saturday at American Airlines Center. He said he's looking forward to taking in the entire weekend.

"Watching the draft for the past couple of years and seeing some of my buddies picked and thinking about that it could be me one day, so being so close to it now and actually being able to go to the draft and see how things turn out is something that I'm really excited for," said Woo.

Fellow Warriors Justin Almeida and Ryan Peckford will also be hoping to be selected this weekend.

The first round will be held on Friday and then Rounds 2-7 will go on Saturday.
