For the second time on the weekend, the Moose Jaw Warriors played well and battled hard but were not able to spark their offence as they fell 4-1 to the Winnipeg ICE Sunday at the Subway WHL Hub.

Throughout the opening period, the Warriors did a good job creating a consistent presence inside the Winnipeg zone which led to an 11-6 advantage on the shot clock.

However, Winnipeg opened the scoring at 10:10 when Jakin Smallwood scored on the power play, which was followed up with a Peyton Krebs goal just over a minute later to give the ICE a 2-0 lead.

The second period was like the first as both teams did a good job keeping the pace high which resulted in several rushes up the ice, however, they both did a good job defensively to limit the quality chances.

Throughout the third period, the Warriors forecheck was able to pin the ICE deep in their zone.  At 10:35, Tate Popple had the puck behind the Winnipeg net and was able to come out at the left side and set up Eric Alarie at the faceoff dot, where he put a one-timer past Daniel Hauser for his sixth goal of the season.

With momentum on their side, the Warriors were not able to ride the wave as the ICE got a Cole Muir goal five minutes later to go back up by two.  Winnipeg added an empty-net goal inside the final minute of regulation.

The Warriors were 0-for-4 on the power play and 5-for-6 on the penalty kill.

Moose Jaw will have Monday off to get ready for a busy schedule coming up this week.  On Tuesday they take on the Regina Pats (8:00 pm), Thursday they battle Swift Current (4:00 pm), and then Friday they have their second meeting of the season against Saskatoon (8:00 pm).
