The Moose Jaw Peewee AA Warriors were able to carry their success from their home tournament over to this past weekend as they went unbeaten in a pair of games in Melville.

On Friday, the Warriors battled the Melville Millionaires to a 6-6 tie and then Moose Jaw skated to a 9-3 win over Melville on Saturday.

The Warriors pushed their record to 4-8-1 on the year in the South Saskatchewan Minor Hockey League.

Moose Jaw scored four goals in the third period to pick-up the draw with Melville on Friday.  Rowan Calvert had a hat trick and four points in the game, while Haydn Hudyma added a goal and three points.

Caleb Newkirk finished with a goal and two points, while Liam Fitzpatrick also found the back of the net in the tie.

On Saturday, the Warriors had their offence working throughout the game and then scored four times again in the third period, this time to pull away for the win.

Fitzpatrick and Calvert opened the scoring for Moose Jaw for an early 2-0 lead, but the Millionaires struck back with two late goals to tie the game after one.

Calvert, Austin Woodley and Hudyma all scored in the second period to put the Warriors in front 5-2 heading into the third period.

Hudyma and Ty Pratte scored in the first ten minutes to extend Moose Jaw’s lead to five goals.

Bryce Boughen and Newkirk added goals late to seal the lopsided win for the Warriors.

Moose Jaw returns to the ice this coming weekend for a pair of home games against the Weyburn Wings on Saturday and Sunday.

The Moose Jaw Peewee A Warriors put together an undefeated three-game weekend in the Hockey Regina League.

Moose Jaw battled the Regina Shamrocks to a 6-6 tie on Friday; then skated to a 4-4 tie against the Prairie Storm Thunder on Saturday; before finishing the weekend with an 8-1 win over the Regina Capitals on Sunday.

On Friday, the Warriors exploded for four early goals, but the Shamrocks battled back to make it 4-3 after one.  Moose Jaw again scored early in the second, moving in front 6-3, but Regina scored three unanswered to tie the game.

Jacob Michelson and Layne Gadd both scored twice in the tie game for Moose Jaw, while Aydin Tatum added a goal and two points and Jasmine Kohl picked up two assists.

In Saturday’s contest, the Warriors and Thunder went back-and-forth throughout the game with both teams scoring twice in the third to finish even at 4-4.

Gadd, Cohen Coleman, Chance Cole and Nolan Kearns all scored in the game for Moose Jaw.

The Warriors scored early and often during Sunday’s win, finding the back of the net six times in the first period and then twice more in the third period for the lopsided win.

Kearns had two goals and three points in Sunday’s win, while Gadd added a goal and three points. Aiden MacDonald posted a pair of goals as well.  Michelson chipped in with a pair of assists.

The Warriors are sitting in first place in the league with a 10-3-2 record on the year.

The Moose Jaw Peewee Mavericks finished without a win during their three-game weekend in the South Saskatchewan Female Hockey League.

The Mavericks were shutout 10-0 on Friday against the Southwest Cyclones; they followed that up with a 12-1 loss to the Estevan Bear Cats on Saturday; and then finished the weekend with a 4-4 tie in a rematch against Bear Cats on Sunday.

Jesse Mielke scored Moose Jaw’s lone goal in Saturday’s game as they trailed just 2-1 after one, but the Bear Cats put the game out of reach with a six-goal second period.

On Sunday, the Mavericks bounced back with a much stronger effort, matching the Bear Cats each step of the way for the tie.

Brooklyn Nimegeers had a hat trick on Sunday, while Sadie Hughes registered a goal and two points.

The Mavericks are 2-9-0 on the year. They’re back on the ice on Saturday when they travel to Swift Current to take on the Ice Cats.

The Moose Jaw Warriors were roughed up during a pair of games in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League over the weekend, losing 16-0 to the Regina Monarchs on Saturday and 11-3 to the Swift Current Broncos on Sunday.

Brydon Bell finished with two goals and three points in Sunday’s loss, while Connor Ruckaber scored the other goal in the loss.

The two losses drop Moose Jaw’s record to 0-17-0 on the year. They will travel to Regina on Wednesday to face the Aces.

After losing 6-2 to Weyburn on Thursday, the Moose Jaw Bantam A Warriors bounced back with a 7-3 win over the Southey Marlins on Friday night in the Hockey Regina League.

Moose Jaw broke out with four goals in the first period and held off the Marlins the rest of the way for the win.

Braxton MacAngus had two goals and three points in the win, while Nikolas Smolinski, Brodi Noble, Nathan Varjassy, Brennan Patterson and Eric Woit also scored in the win.

The Warriors return to action on Tuesday when they travel to Regina to battle the Shamrocks. Puck drops at 8 p.m. at the Al Ritchie Arena.
