The Moose Jaw Bantam AA Warriors couldn’t find much success over the weekend as their season picked up.

The Warriors dropped three lopsided games in the Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League this past weekend.

On Friday night, the Warriors dropped a 6-1 game to the Melville Millionaires.  Mikkel Hrechka scored the lone goal for Moose Jaw in the third period to break up the shutout.

Moose Jaw then travelled to Yorkton on Saturday and lost 14-1 to the Terriers.  Brennan Blatz scored for the Warriors early in the second period to make it 3-1, but it was all Yorkton after that.

The Warriors finished off the trio of games with a 9-1 loss to the Notre Dame Hounds at the Bert Hunt Arena on Sunday.  Andon Constable had the lone goal in the loss for Moose Jaw.

The Warriors will be back on the ice this weekend in Regina when they take part in the annual Graham Tuer Bantam AA Challenge, which runs Thursday-Sunday at the Cooperators Centre.

The Moose Jaw Midget AA Warriors came out on the losing end in a hard fought game against the Prairie Storm, falling 4-3, on Sunday afternoon at the Barkman Arena.

Josh Fitzpatrick had a goal and two points in the loss for Moose Jaw, while Padrick MacLachlan picked up a pair of assists.

The Storm opened the scoring just 1:16 into the game when Josh Asmundson found the back of the net and they went in front 3-0 early in the second when Rylan Mitchall scored twice in less than a minute.

Moose Jaw battled back with Zachary Wakeford scoring on the power play midway through the second to cut the Storm’s lead down to two going into the third.

Fitzpatrick pulled Moose Jaw within one 3:55 into the third, but the Storm went back in front by two when Zach Cain scored a shorthanded goal with 7:38 to play.

Ethan Bachiu made it a one-goal game against late in the third, but that was as close as the Warriors would get.

The Warriors are back on the ice on Thursday when they head into Regina to face the Rangers at the Cooperators Centre.  Moose Jaw travels to Melville on Sunday as well.

The Moose Jaw Bantam A Mavericks skated to a pair of wins on the weekend, skating to an 8-5 win over the Parkland Crushers on Saturday and rolling over the Estevan Bear Cats, 11-0, on Sunday.

Saturday’s game saw the Mavericks jump out to a 4-0 lead in the first period, but the Crushers fired back with three straight goals to open the second.  Moose Jaw righted the ship and held a 6-4 lead after two.

They sealed the win with a pair of late goals in the third period.

Keara Merriman led the way for the Mavericks in the win with a hat trick and four points, while Makayla Anderson picked up a goal and four points.  Kaitlyn Gilroy had two goals and three points and Nikita Halyk finished with a goal and three points.

Tia Miller scored the other goal for Moose Jaw, shorthanded in the third; while Courtney Botterill and Chelsey DeGagne picked up two assists each.

On Sunday, the Mavericks fired 65 shots on the Bear Cats’ net and rolled to the lopsided shutout win.

Moose Jaw scored five in the first, two in the second and four more in the third for the win.

Merriman picked up her second hat trick of the weekend, while Gilroy finished with a goal and four points in the win.

Sidney Ellingson had two goals and three points; Ellie Gauvin, Anderson and Halyk had a goal and three points each; Miller and Mattea May also scored in the win.

DeGagne chipped in with a pair of assists as well, while goalie Sydnee Christmann was forced to stop just five shots in the win.

The Mavericks return to the ice this Saturday to host the Balcarres Barracudas at the Bert Hunt Arena.  Puck drops at 5:15 p.m.

The Moose Jaw Peewee Mavericks hit the ice on Friday and Saturday this weekend.

They skated to a 2-2 against the Weyburn Gold Wings on Friday at the Kinsmen Arena and then dropped a 6-0 game to the Swift Current Ice Cats.

Jasmine Kohl had both goals for Moose Jaw in Friday’s draw with Weyburn.  The Mavericks and Gold Wings traded goals in the first and third periods with each team leading once in the back-and-forth contest.

Moose Jaw was 0-for-3 on the power play.

In Saturday’s loss, the Ice Cats scored two goals in each period on their way to the shutout victory.

The Mavericks will return to the ice on Wednesday night when they travel to Weyburn for a rematch with the Gold Wings.  Puck drops at 7 p.m.

The Moose Jaw Midget AA Mavericks came out their weekend with a 4-1 loss to the Regina Ravens on Friday night and battled the Notre Dame Hounds to a 1-1 tie on Saturday afternoon at the Bert Hunt Arena.

Mikayla Anderson scored Moose Jaw’s lone goal with 5:49 to play in Friday night’s loss to break up the shutout.  The Mavericks were outshot 50-21 in the loss.

On Saturday, Kaelyn Logan-Pemkowski scored for Moose Jaw just 5:59 into the game, but the Hounds answered midway through the second period and neither team could find the back of the net the rest of the way.

Moose Jaw’s Shakara Chutskoff turned away 30 saves in the tie.

The Mavericks are back in action on Sunday when they travel to Weyburn to meet up with the Drillers.  Puck drops at 7:15 p.m.
