16-year-old Carter Hansen is expected to be one of the leaders on Team West.

Moose Jaw Warrior rookie Torrin White got the best of teammate Carter Hansen in the opening game of the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge as White's Team Pacific knocked off Hansen and Team West 5-2.

Neither player found their way onto the scoresheet in the game as Kootenay's Sam Reinhart led the way for Team Pacific with two goals, while the Pats' Morgan Klimchuk had a goal and two points.

Remi Laurencelle and Nicholas Zajac, a Saskatoon Blade draft pick, were the goal scorers for Team West.

Hansen and Team West get the day off Friday, while Team Pacific is back on the ice against the Czech Republic.
