The city of Winnipeg has been awarded hub city status for the 2020 Canadian Football League season.
The Manitoba government promised $2.5 million to help out, and the Saskatchewan government tried to go over the top of that with a $3 million package, but the CFL chose Winnipeg over Regina and Calgary.
There is still no indication if there will be a shortened season, but if there is, nine teams will be in a bubble consisting of hotels, practice fields, and their Stadium.
The deal also still needs final approval from Manitoba health officials.
