Fans of the Moose Jaw Warriors will get a look at one of their newest forwards tonight inside Mosaic Place.

19-year-old forward Alec Zawatsky will dress for his first game as a Warrior since being acquired by the team for 18-year-old Tyler Smithies, a 4th round pick in 2020, and a 5th round pick in 2021.

"Im very excited about joining this hockey club," says the 5'8" forward. "Obviously, right now we're in a playoff spot and I wanna keep that rolling foward."

At the time of the trade, Zawatsky was leading the Swift Current Broncos in scoring with 13 goals in 39 games which is what Warriors GM Alan Millar hopes his new forward can continue to provide for his new team.

"He's having a very good year", says Millar. "He was playing on their top line. He's a key guy on the power play. And we think he's a guy that can come in here and give us some secondary scoring, some more experience and depth in our lineup."

According to Zawatsky's twitter, he'll be will be wearing the #17.

"I'm really excited for the opportunity and i'm excited to be in Moose Jaw."

Zawatsky and his new team have a pair of home games this weekend before heading out on a 7 game road trip. Tonight, they'll faceoff against Seattle and then they welcome Brandon into town for a game on Saturday night. Both games are at 7pm.
