202 new cases of COVID 19 were announced on Monday, as well as 174 recoveries.

Of the new cases, 10 are in the south-central region, 101 are in Regina, 22 are in Saskatoon, 16 are in the southeast, 11 in the northeast, 10 in the north-central zone, nine in the northwest, six in the far northeast, six in the central-east, four in the central-west, two in the far northwest, and one in the southwest. Four cases are pending resident information.

1,978 cases are considered active, with 95 of those located in the sub-region 'south-central 2', which is made up of Moose Jaw and the surrounding area. 

162 people are in hospital with 137 receiving inpatient care, and 25 in intensive care.

ASTRAZENECA

The National Advisory Committee on Immunization also issued updated guidelines on the use of AstraZeneca in Canada Monday, recommending that use for populations under 55 be paused, pending further review of vaccine safety. Saskatchewan will be following this recommendation.

Some residents younger than 55 have received AstraZeneca, but no adverse events have been reported.

VACCINES

An additional 6,104 doses of COVID-19 vaccine have been given in Saskatchewan, bringing the total number of vaccines administered in the province to 179,800.

The 6,104 doses of COVID-19 vaccine reported today were administered in the following regions: Saskatoon (2,270), Central East (583), Regina (1,280) and South Central (1,971).

The appointment booking system is currently available to residents 62 years and older. These residents are encouraged to book their COVID-19 vaccinations and can do so online or by phone.
