It has just been announced by the organizers of the Saskatchewan Country Thunder music festival that this year's event has been postponed due to the recent rise in COVID-19 numbers.

“This is not the news that our fans want to hear or the news that we wanted to deliver,” said Country Thunder Saskatchewan CEO, Troy Vollhoffer. “But, as we have learned, and given these extenuating circumstances, the decision-making process is completely out of our hands."

The organizers shared the unfortunate announcement via social media and stated that continued uncertainty surrounding border closures and festival-sized gatherings are just a few of their current major challenges that they are facing.

“Saskatchewan is home to many of us," Vollhoffer added. "We can only thank those fans for their ongoing support and make a promise for the biggest and best festival possible in 2022.”

They expressed that all tickets that have been purchased for the 2021 festival will be automatically honoured next year if the festival is able to run.

Country Thunder Saskatchewan is making plans to return to the Craven Valley next July 15-17, 2022.

They have been hosting the event in Saskatchewan for 17 years and also host festivals in Alberta, Arizona, Iowa, Wisconsin, and Florida. No word has been released yet if the American events plan to go ahead or who might headline Saskatchewan in 2022.

We will update you if and when more information becomes available.
