December 7th marked three months since the Moose Jaw Police Service released a sketch of a man they believed could be at the center of one or more sexual assault cases.

Three separate complaints were made. The first dated back to August of 2017, the other two were in June and August of 2018. Three women stated that they were walking alone in the downtown core of the city when they were approached and offered a ride by a Caucasian man, with all three incidents happening between the hours of 1 am and 4 am.

Sgt. Kevin Pilsworth said they released the sketch in September as a way to try and find answers and hopefully locate an individual who may be responsible for these incidents. Sharing this drawing was a positive thing for the officers investigating the matters according to Sgt. Kevin Pilsworth.

"I can share that the sketch did prove to be useful in our investigation, and ultimately we did locate someone that was charged with sexual assault and has appeared in court and was released on a number of conditions," explained Sgt. Pilsworth.

That being said he couldn't clearly answer whether officers were still looking for more suspects.

"We do have a number of open and active investigations. Some may or may not be related, but because of the sensitivity of the investigations, there's not a whole lot more that we can really share with the public as to what we're doing."

With it being the holiday season and the time when residents go out for holiday fun, it serves as a reminder to always be safe. Sgt. Pilsworth said for the most part Moose Jaw is a safe community. However, there have been those occasions where a resident has come into harm's way, and he wants to make sure everyone is taking the proper precautions.

"You're having some fun and engaging in festivities. Try to have somebody that's with you, at least one person or have a few people with you, that you can sort of look after each other and make sure that each other are safe. The 'buddy system' is a good approach, or having several friends or family members with you is always a good idea."

Sgt. Pilworth also added that before you venture out for the evening, if you know you won't be able to safely drive home, plan a ride home.
