Child Care Week in Saskatchewan wrapped up over the weekend.
For many families, it can be a challenge not only finding someone to watch the children during summer, but also making sure the kids are kept active.
Moose Jaw Family YMCA is one of several daycare providers in the city, and they are in the middle of running their summer Kids Camps that provide a series of planned activities.
"Camp is a way for kids to make friends, learn skills, get back to nature and connect," says YMCA spokesperson Jenn Angus. "That's what the 'Y' is about and that's what this camp is about."
Discover Moose Jaw paid a visit to their "Amazing Race" competition in Wakamow Valley on Wednesday, where the campers faced a number of different challenges that stressed teamwork.
"The best part is playing with my friends, and I like doing all of these games," said nine-year old Dylan Payne of the event.
Camp counsellor Darien Johnson was also impressed. "As a kid I never had (this type of opportunity), so it's nice now to be able to experience it," she said. "You can make a difference in the kids' days, and it's great to see them outside and having fun."
