Saskatchewan has a new Lieutenant-Governor.

Lawyer Thomas Molly was sworn in at the provinces 22nd Lieutenant-Governor at the ceremony Wednesday afternoon at the Legislature in Regina.   His term will last at least five years. 

The Lieutenant-Governor is the Queens representative in Saskatchewan and grants royal assent to provincial laws.  The job also includes the opening and closing of legislative sessions.

 

The ceremony Wednesday included a 15 gun salute by the Royal Canadian Artillery and a fly past from aircraft from Moose Jaw's 15 Wing.
