Canada's new agriculture minister is making her first trip across the country this week.

Marie-Claude Bibeau is in B.C. Monday meeting with farmers, processors and industry leaders.

“I am thrilled to be kicking off my first agricultural tour in Western Canada in my new role as federal Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food," she said. "This will be an opportunity for me to meet with our world-class farmers and processors, as well as their representatives on the ground. The future of the agriculture sector is full of new possibilities and our Government is committed to contributing to its growth.”

She'll also make a stop in Alberta before wrapping up the tour Wednesday in Winnipeg...completely skipping over Saskatchewan.

Premier Scott Moe commented on the tour, asking how an agricultural tour of western Canada can take place without stopping in Saskatchewan.

The ag minister will be participating in local agricultural events to highlight strategic federal agricultural investments and programs.
