After the back and forth debate over legalization, the months of paperwork and red tape. The build-up to legal sales of cannabis October 17th in Canada will be a disappointment to many. Industry officials are saying many licensed dispensaries will not be ready for Day 1 on Wednesday.

There have been many stories over the last two weeks of dispensaries having issues with building permits, inspections and securing enough product for retail sales, especially here in Saskatchewan. Many local dispensaries are not going to be open on Wednesday for the first day of cannabis legalization and if they are open, sold out signs could be in their windows soon after.

Officials say the network for product simply isn't ready to supply the demand that's expected. A report last week from the SLGA estimated that just 20% of dispensaries are ready.
