You've probably seen the videos on social media by now, but the town of Assiniboia was hit hard last night – with a large amount of rain in a short amount of time.

Chief Administrative Officer with the town of Assiniboia, Carol White shared what happened.

"What I've been advised is we got about 2 and a half inches in half an hour. The area that was most affected was about 3 feet deep".

So far White hasn't heard any reports of damage, and the street with the most flooding was cleared within an hour.

"From start to finish it took them about an hour. We had a crew of 6 men out taking care of it, so I'm very proud of the work they did, they did a heck of a job."

White says the area is a known problem area when it comes to flooding, because of its location at the bottom of a hill. But says they have a fix in place for sometime this year.

Moose Jaw on the other hand received another 15mm of rain last night. After getting nothing for most of the spring, we've almost taken in too much over the last 10 days.

Drew Lerner with World Weather Inc says he was following the storm.

"Some strong to severe thunderstorms occurred overnight last night in some south central portions of the province. We did see some rain totals work their way to 41mm, some of the storms that occurred were locally intense and most of the precipitation since then has shifted toward the Manitoba border."

And he went on to say more is on the way.

"Precipitation could fire up into some strong severe thunderstorms Sunday evening heading into Monday morning. This will impact the eastern part of Saskatchewan and western portions of Manitoba. Some totals there could easily get into the 20 or 40mm of rain, and maybe some local totals around 55mm of rain."

Western Saskatchewan could see the start of the system as early as Saturday night.
