A longtime local lawyer is getting a promotion. Brian Hendrickson has been announced as Moose Jaw's newest Provincial Court Judge.

With more than 35 years of experience, Justice Minister and Attorney General Don Morgan said Hendrickson's years of service and contributions to the legal community will certainly enhance the judicial system in our province.

Judge Hendrickson has been an active member of the legal community in Saskatchewan by publishing legal articles and lecturing on many occasions. Starting as a clerk in the Regina Court of Queens' Bench, Hendrickson has moved up through the ranks becoming the Regional Crown Prosecutor for Moose Jaw before being appointed to his new position. In 2008, Hendrickson received his Queen's Counsel Designation, a high honour for a Canadian lawyer based on merit and contributions to the profession.

He'll replace Judge Kovatch who is moving to the Provincial Court in Regina.
