From undefeated champions to roadside heroes, the men on the Briercrest volleyball team showed that they aren't short for talent and big hearts after helping a local woman out of a snowy ditch last Friday, January 14th.

Nigel Mullan the coach for the volleyball team and his wife Natalie Mullan were backing out of their driveway on 3rd Avenue in Caronport when they saw a woman slide into a deep snow-filled ditch across the road.

"Nigel got out to go see if he could help her and the ditch was really deep so she was stuck pretty badly. So, he knew that he needed extra manpower to be able to get her out," says Mrs. Mullan. She confirmed that the woman who crashed into the ditch did get out of the car with no injuries.

After Mr. Mullan realized this was a job he couldn't do alone, he sent a message to the volleyball team's group chat on Facebook Messenger and asked if any of the players were available to go help him out.

"It was less than 5 minutes and the whole team showed up," says Mrs. Mullan.

With Mr. Mullan steering the vehicle, the team tried pushing the vehicle out but it wasn't budging. So then, #13 Davis Borden, who plays outside and is on their leadership team, left and brought back his truck. He then hooked up the truck to the vehicle's bumper and pulled the vehicle while the rest of the team pushed and Mr. Mullan steered. After a little bit of work, the team was successful and got the woman's vehicle out of the ditch.

Mrs. Mullan adds, " It was really sweet. The guys were all cheering and high-fiving and were so excited to be able to help out."
