On Tuesday evening at city council results were shared from a recent survey.

You may remember city hall offering residents the chance to have their say regarding where they would like to see our tax dollars go, as well as have a chance to share any concerns or questions in a survey this past fall.

Craig Hemingway, Communications Manager for the city took to the microphone to share the findings for council and explained in what areas administration saw the majority of answers.

"The Majority of residents generally identified infrastructure as our number one priority for allocating tax dollars. The majority found that a combination of taxation, utility rates, use of reserves, possibly levies, a mixture of those things would be an appropriate way to provide funding for programs and services."

One reoccurring statement that could have been found on various surveys that were submitted was the number of employees residents see at one job site while a project is taking place.

"People wanted to in general find efficiencies instead of raising taxes, they want the city to fix streets and roads. As far as efficiencies go, there were several comments related to city crews and concerns about the number of people on a particular work site and why does it take x-amount of people to be on a job site," said Hemingway. "Given the number of responses related to that we have identified that as an area of opportunity for my department and working with public works to better explain safety protocols and why we do what we do, why it takes the number of people it takes. That's something we'll be looking at in 2019."

He added that the city will continue to process the responses and look for efficiencies within city operations.
