They are a symbol of our country and are featured prominently on the Canadian nickel.  They can also be a bit of a nuisance.

The City of Moose Jaw Parks and Recreation Department continues to monitor ongoing damage caused by beavers in Sunningdale Coulee.  The beavers have gnawed down some trees in the area and used the branches in an attempt to build a dam.

“The biggest issues are they continually plug culverts, impeding water flow, and destroy trees that take years to grow back,” said Parks Supervisor Daily Lennox.

The City has hired a pest control specialist who has helped control the local beaver population. The Parks & Rec department will investigate further over the winter to try to find alternate solutions.
