The village of Caronport hit the polls this past week and elected their new Mayor in a by-election. The community now opens their mayoral office doors to Daniel Buck.

Buck has been a member of the community for 21 years now, a member of their council for 8 of those years, and of the 307 people who voted, 227 voted for him.

"We had a record number turn out, 307 people in our small community turned out and I won a vast majority," Buck said. "I think that's a vote for myself and my commitment in the last eight years but also the work of the last two councils as we worked together to bring good quality progress towards our community."

Buck is excited for the new opportunity and what challenges they face. Like their waste water management and how they communicate with residents.

"I want to continue working on communication, hearing from the people. So I'm going to set up 'coffee with the Mayor' times," Buck explained. "Yeah, again, really just excited for the opportunity and facing the challenges together."
